Healing Sexual Trauma Training

The Breathe Network’s online course, “Healing Sexual Trauma: A Professional Training in Trauma-Informed Care,” will offer you a unique combination of education and training co-facilitated by over a dozen of professionals working in the realms of sexual trauma, anti-sexual violence advocacy, holistic healing and resilience building.

Healing Sexual Trauma is a comprehensive course that is intended to encompass a wide breadth of information that we believe is vital when it comes to being a resource of safety, support and referrals for sexual trauma survivors. It is geared towards healing arts and health and wellness providers of all disciplines including, among others: acupuncturists, bodyworkers, yoga teachers, therapists, personal trainers, social workers, nurse practitioners, medical doctors and more.

The course will run for 8-weeks beginning on April 1st, and includes: weekly emails with an array of video interviews, totaling nearly 20 hours, along with supplemental reading content.

Participants will have extended access to all course content. This allows you to move through the course at a pace that feels right to you. There is no rush and you are invited to take your time absorbing and reviewing the materials.

Course Curriculum Includes

  • Week 1 – Individual and Collective Trauma, Navigating Adversity and Cultivating Resilience
  • Week 2 – Partnering with the Individual Nervous System and Mapping the Collective Nervous System
  • Week 3 – The Imprints of Sexual Trauma Part 1: Survivor-Lead Insights on Abuse, Advocacy, Activism and Seeding Social Change
  • Week 4 – The Imprints of Sexual Trauma Part 2: Recognizing Wounds and Finding Resources within the Body, Mind and Spirit
  • Week 5 – Primary Elements within Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) and Practice
  • Week 6 – Practical Applications of TIC: Practice Focus on Acupuncture, Yoga, Chiropractic and Bodywork
  • Week 7 – Practical Applications of TIC: Practice Focus on Psychotherapy, Birth, Movement-Based Healing
  • Week 8 – Transformative Perspectives on Healing, Justice and Self-Care

The course officially starts on Wednesday, April 1st, 2020, and concludes on Wednesday, May 20th, however, it is up to you when you begin to review the content and the rhythm at which you move through it.

Deepen your healing journey through the practices of trauma-informed yoga and meditation with The Breathe Network‘s online course for sexual trauma survivors.

Embodied Healing – Trauma-Informed Yoga and Meditation for Survivors of Sexual Assault is an online course co-taught by a team of 16 instructors who are seasoned professionals in the realms of trauma, psychology, sexual assault, yoga and meditation. We have designed this course to be an accessible and empowering way for survivors to embark upon or simply deepen healing practices that are sustainable and holistic.

You’ll not only learn about trauma-informed yoga and meditation from a variety of lenses and instructors, but you will also be introduced to cutting-edge insights on stress and resilience physiology, managing triggers and flashbacks, self-care and more.

We know that beginning to work with somatic/body-based practices like yoga and meditation can feel vulnerable, therefore this course allows you to participate from the comfort of your own home, and also, to move through it at your own pace. You can follow along with us each week, or you can take your time to digest and integrate the materials over a period of months. Our intention was to create a course that can support you in nurturing the nonlinear journey of sexual assault recovery by inviting both your body and mind to that process as intimate allies.

What’s included in this online course:

  • Accessible teachings on nervous system functioning, integrating body-mind practices for healing, an understanding of trauma-informed yoga and meditation, navigating triggers and flashbacks, sustainable self-care and 6 experiential yoga and meditation practices to support a home practice
  • Over a dozen video interviews with experts on the topics of trauma, stress and resilience physiology, holistic healing, yoga and meditation
  • Supporting reading materials selected by our teaching team to enhance the video learning

Our course, is a combination of; psycho-education on how sexual violence and trauma impact the brain, nervous system, and functioning of body and mind, an in-depth look at how yoga and meditation practices can uniquely support an integrated and sustainable approach to healing the wounds of sexual trauma, and importantly, includes lead yoga and meditation practices that will give you a home practice to engage with at any time.

Format-

Each week you will receive an email including the course videos for the week, supplemental reading, and/or videos associated with the course content.

You will receive 3 yoga practices in varying lengths (10 min, 20 min, 45 min) and you will receive 3 guided meditation practices in varying lengths (5 min, 15 min, 30 min). These will be a combination of either audio or audio and video.
