Core Elements of Traumatic Response: Understanding How People are Affected by Trauma Teleseminar

Published: March 26, 2015

Core Elements of Traumatic Response: Understanding How People are Affected by Trauma is a teleseminar hosted by TBN member, Tovah Means, as is part of our ongoing series of educational trainings available online. They are designed to enhance trauma-informed care for healing arts practitioners, empower survivors by sharing a range of insights about healing, and increase our societal understandings of the layered impacts of sexual trauma and insights into resilience.

This teleseminar discussed the common responses people may have after experiencing a one time or on-going traumatic event(s). Survivors are impacted in multiple and complicated ways and the impacts can be seen in the areas of Traumatic Memory and Time, Cognition, Neurophysiology, Ego State, Relationships & Attachment, Bodily Response, Affective States and Self-Preservation/Defense. Tovah briefly introduced us to these broad categories creating a foundation for understanding how the body and mind are impacted by trauma and how engaging body and mind can facilitate integrated healing.
